Newsletter – November 2020

Many of you have already been preparing and collecting your enrolled children’s immunization records and exemptions for the January 15, 2021 deadline of the School and Child Care Immunization Report. For this newsletter, our intention is to help get you started with this process and provide you with links and resources. Your Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC) will review this guidance with you in the upcoming months but please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions.

Additionally, we have started seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases in Colorado. Our nurses have received many calls from our centers letting us know of a positive case or exposure. Admittedly, the guidance is not easy to navigate. While it is best to reach out to your local health departments with questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your CCHC as well. We have linked the latest guidance below for you in this newsletter.

We wish you all peace and wellness during this time. You provide great support to our families and communities and for that we are eternally grateful.

Stay Healthy!

Molly Orlando, RN
Co-owner/Child Care Health Consultant

Immunization Records and Reporting Checklist

We have created a checklist  to help step you through the process of gathering children’s immunization records using the Colorado Immunization Information System and steps to complete the School and Child Care Immunization Data report. We hope you find this checklist helpful!

How to use the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS)

Child care programs can use CIIS to look up and print records. Your centers immunization specialist will need to take an online training, create a CIIS user account and agree to the confidentiality and security policies before using CIIS. The following link has more information to access the system:

School and Child Care Immunization Data Reporting (SCCIDR)

The following institutions need to complete this report: Public, private and parochial schools with grades K-12, as well as child care centers, preschools, and Head Start programs with 10 or more children. The report collects aggregate data about your center’s enrolled children’s immunization status. The report is due January 15, 2020. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to complete the report.

Submit your SCCIDR report at the following link:

COVID-19 REPORTING

We have heard licensing specialists are now asking centers to report a positive COVID-19 to licensing and their local health department. There are some inconsistencies with this expectation but to prevent being written up for this violation, please report a positive COVID-19 case to both licensing and your health department within 24 hours. Here is the link to the COVID-19 communicable disease report at the CDPHE website:
